- Press Release No. 44/1380
On June 27, the Kyakhta Garrison Court considered the case of Dmitry Dedyukhin (b. 1992) who died in the army. He was called up to military service from the Sverdlov Region on November 9, 2010. He served in M.U. 69647, Kyakhta, Republic of Buryatia. On January 30, 2011 Dmitry perished. It was found out that he had been driven to suicide by the criminal actions of his fellow serviceman, Rayan Kusyukbayev. The latter was charged under Art. 335, s. 3, of the RF CC (abuse of authority resulting in grave consequences). The interests of the father of the deceased were represented by the Mother's Right Foundation lawyer, Mikhail Golovenchik. The previous hearing was held on June 23, 2011 (see press release No. 43/1379 of 23.06.11).
During today's hearing two more witnesses were interrogated: Pvt. V.A. Burundukov and Pvt. D.S. Shevchuk. It was not clear why they had been subpoenaed: they could tell noting about the case. Burundukov started his service in the military unit on January 11, 2011; Shevchuk said that in January he was out of the unit (he was on the firing range) and knew about the accident with Dedyukhin from his fellow servicemen. Both witnesses confirmed that at M.U. 69647, the buckle ritual was considered extremely humiliating.
Also, they read out the evidence of witness Cherepkov: "Kusyukbayev humiliated Dedyukhin and demonstrated that Dedyukhin was a bad serviceman and should be mocked at".
After the interrogation, the court issued a decision on an additional posthumous psychiatric expert investigation. It is to be performed by the experts of the 80th State Centre of Medico-Legal Examinations who earlier found out that Dmitry's suicide had been a result of Kusyukbayev's actions. Next hearing was postponed for an indefinite period. Watch the foundation's press releases.
