- Press Release No. 07/1530
On 30 January, the Mother's Right Foundation participates in court hearings in Novosibirsk and Vladikavkaz, thanks to the donations of those who decided to support our work. The parents of deceased servicemen whose court hearings were fixed for the date will receive qualified legal aid, thanks to the citizens who have responded to the foundation's appeal for help.
In the Sovetsky District Court, Vladikavkaz, the Mother's Right Foundation will provide free legal aid to veterans' family members: Ludmila Alexandrovna Zabelskaya and Sergei Nikolayevich Zabelsky; Yelena Nikolayevna Kabanets and Anatoly Nikolayevich Kabanets; Yekaterina Nikolayevna Komzarokova. Their sons - Andrei Zabelsky (b. 1978), Alexander Kabanets (b. 1974), and Yevgeni Komzarokov (b. 1970) - were veterans and died in service. The Military Commissariat of Rep. North Ossetiya-Alania denied the family members of the late veterans an increase (of 32%) in the size of loss-of-breadwinner pensions which is due to them under the law.
On the same day, the same court will consider the same issue: an increase (of 32%) in the size of loss-of-breadwinner pensions of the parents of late MIA veteran Ivan Antropov (b. 1978). During his service in Chechnya, on 23 September 2006, Ivan was wounded and died on 27 September 2006. The MIA of Rep. North Ossetiya-Alania denied the parents of the deceased, Anatoly Nikolayevich Antropov and Tatiana Valentinovna Antropova, an increase in the size of pensions. The Antropovs applied to the Mother's Right Foundation, and we filed a lawsuit.
Right up to the last moment, we were not sure whether we would have enough money for a business trip and lawyer of the Mother's Right Foundation Zarema Yusupova would be able to arrive at court and represent the interests of the parents of the late servicemen. At present, we do not worry for our trials in Vladikavkaz: lawyer Zarema Yusupova will take an evening flight from N.Novgorod (on 28 January, the foundation represented the interests of thirteen families of dead veterans in a lawsuit against the illegal actions of the regional military commissariat) to Moscow and then she'll fly to Vladikavkaz.
On the same day, 30 January, another lawyer of the Mother's Right Foundation Tatiana Sladkova will work at the Central District Court, Novosibirsk: she will represent the interests of Lubov Petrovna Petrova, mother of a dead serviceman, in a lawsuit for compensation for moral damage. This business trip has become possible thanks to the donations of responsive people.
Alexei Petrov (b. 1992) was called up to military service on 27 May, 2010 and served in M.U. 71435, Sakhalin Region. On 5 November he was found dead not far from the unit. Investigators found out that he had been constantly humiliated by fellow serviceman Medzhidov and his direct commander Vazhnovsky. The Mother's Right Foundation represented the interests of the parents of the deceased in the Kurilsk Garrison Court which imposed a sentence on both of the accused on 4 October 2011. The Mother's Right Foundation filed a lawsuit for compensation for moral damage.
We are grateful to all those people who gave donations to support our work. Thanks to you, the interests of the dead veterans' families will be protected in court.
We ask you to spread the information on the foundation's campaign: we are looking for 500 people who will send us monthly donations in the amount of 1000 rubles. Then, we'll be able to participate in all planned trials. We wish to help all of our applicants. It's up to you whether to keep the foundation alive or not; to help families of dead soldiers or not.
